I have been an artist all of my life. It took me until my late thirties and the birth of my son to find my preferred medium of fiber arts. The comfort and nurturing I receive from working with fiber supports me as I venture out; pushing what I know and discovering what I don't know. My art is in direct response to a question I need to answer or an idea I need to understand.
Working within my artist's journal, I am able to consider a variety of ways to express my work. My art begins with an idea that comes from my feelings, curiosities and inspirations. The journal allows me a place to explore and experiment with a variety of materials (fabric, thread, paint, paper) and techniques (machine and hand quilting, embroidery, photo transfer). The journal is my companion, recording those fleeting moments that too easily drift away. It is from this place I am able to combine many elements as a record of my findings. I share my visual dialog with others.
This art I make is as necessary as breathing.
